Baptism is the heart of Christianity and the heart of Christian living.
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit.
Baptism is our incorporation into Christ’s Pascal Mystery, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life (Rom, 6:4)
What does Scripture say? As Jesus was leaving this Earth, he commanded his disciples, saying: “Go! And make disciples of all nations, baptising them, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even unto the end of the age.” Mt 28: 19-20
In addition to the requirements listed above, school children will be invited to an initiation on what it means to be baptised and to live a Christian life.
There is no limit to the age for being baptised. All are welcome to enquire and start their initiation. For teenagers and adults, there are stages on the path that require time.
Children over twelve and adults should contact the parish secretary for an appointment with the parish priest and the baptism team leader.
